Let’s make something happen!

Would you take a moment to pray for the people who picked the cotton in your shirt, stitched the inseam in your jeans and attached the brim to your hat? Our God is good and desires for His Goodness to be shared by all of creation including our brothers and sisters in factories around the corner and around the world.

5000+ people have come to NYCUP Spring Break, Summer Immersion, Feed 500 and other workshops and worship nights where we’ve called students and volunteers to faith in Christ and action compelled by the Love of God!

After the Price of Life NYC we need to double that! What would it look like for 10,000 people per year to be equipped to fight sex-trafficking and labor slavery and love vulnerable people around the corner and around the world? We think it looks like this! We think it looks like NYCUP!

We develop students and leaders with the character and capacity to change the world and to do that we need to double our capacity!

Would you consider giving $1000 to NYCUP before July 1? Or a monthly pledge of $100 for month?

And, would you consider praying for Priscilla and I as we lay a foundation of serving New York City for the next 20 years?

If the answer is “YES”, email nycurbanproject@gmail.com OR click here to give right now!

After five weeks of NYCUP Spring and Winter Break I smiled. I smiled because we did our first ever Winter Break with 12 brave students and staff from the University of Delaware. At Session 2, I got to see Zack Kattwinkel from JMU and just “liked” his post about moving to Memphis soon to teach. I’m so happy because I remember him, Luke and Teddy dancing in front of the M&M store in Times Square protesting in a snowstorm.

I laugh because there were three Adrian’s at during Session 3 and “Appleman” did a poem after Domenicia and who knew that “all that” was inside both of them. Session 4 was great because all my friends were there! Glo from Rutgers, Charles from Cornell, and Trevor from NYU. I work with the best colleagues in the country. And Megan, Jaryd and Lauren were a joy to have again after NYCUP Summer 2012. And man, Ben and Jerry’s twice in one day with 45 friends from City, Hofstra, Hunter, Union and more is just Good.

Oh and one more thing – whoever put the note in my pocket from Psalm 77, I am grateful.

I also cried a lot. At NYCUP, we say things like “you can’t testify to a freedom you don’t know anything about” and since we are into talking about sex-trafficking and labor slavery, there is a bit of freedom for us to experience before we can fight for it. I had more conversations about rape, sexual assault, depression, neglect, violence, anger and shame than I ever have. To feel the weight of the sin that nailed Jesus to the Cross and continually give that over to Him was crippling. And as I stood in front of students at Columbia University I crumbled under the reality that Jesus went to the Cross for every student that had been violated and shared their stories with me. He laid down His Life that I might be free to love lavishly on every one of of His kids that comes to NYCUP; and not just for them but all of the massage parlors that we found, the woman we saw beaten in the street and the children who stay in the park after we left each day.

We serve a Mighty, Awesome, Wonderful God who loves higher, longer, wider and deeper than our finite minds can comprehend and our tiny hearts can hold.

Praise God from whom all blessings flow. Amen.
