In Psalm 27, David is being hunted down by his enemies. Right in the middle of that, he has such a vivid picture and desire for the love and presence of God. This song is about those amazing moments when the sound of God’s call to you is louder than crazy circumstances.
you, with the scratchy voice and bloodshot eyes
from screaming at robbers and liars
you run away, no one’s surprised
you’re trying to get somewhere higher
and lighten your footfall
lighten your footfall
lighten your footfall
so they can’t find you
til a voice reminds you
love is looking and love is finding
consider yourself found
love is searching and love is calling
your tide just turned around
you, with the burns and blood still on your hands
from crawling your way out of fire
the guns are blazing overhead
you’re trying to get somewhere higher
and lighten your footfall
lighten your footfall
lighten your footfall
so they can’t find you
til a voice reminds you
love is looking and love is finding
consider yourself found
love is searching and love is calling
your tide just turned around
so run for cover in my arms
drop your weapons and rest your heart
it’s pretty here and that’s important
so kick off your shoes and stay
(repeat)
love is looking and love is finding
consider yourself found
love is searching and love is calling
your tide just turned around
